Inspiring Poetry

Some of you guys know that I love poetry, so my love of poetry led me to find one of my favorite poets. She is only around twenty years old, but has over three books published. I will put two poems that relate to the title by her below:

You are not your age,

Nor the size of clothes you wear,

You are not a weight,

Or the color of your hair.

You are not your name,

Or the dimples in your cheeks,

You are all the books you read,

And all the words you speak,

You are your croaky morning voice,

And the smiles you try to hide,

You’re the sweetness in your laughter,

And every tear you’ve cried,

You’re the songs you sing so loudly,

When you know you’re all alone,

You’re the places you’ve been to,

And the one you call home,

You’re the things you believe in,

And the people you love,

You’re the photos in your bedroom,

And the future you dream of,

You’re made of so much beauty,

But it seems like you forgot,

When you decided that you were defined,

By all the things you’re not.

The next poem is called Mirror, and is also by her.

Never trust a mirror,

For a mirror always lies,

It makes you think that all you’re worth,

Can be seen from the outside.

It only shows you what’s skin deep,,

You can’t see how your eyelids flutter,

When you’re drifting off to sleep.

It doesn’t show you what the world sees,

When you’re only being you,

Or how your eyes light up,

When you’re loving what you do,

It doesn’t capture when you’re smiling,

Where no-one else can see,

And your reflection cannot tell you,

Everything you mean to me,

Never trust a mirror,

For it only shows your skin,

And if you think that dedicates your worth,

It’s time you looked within.

These are two great poems!

I Believe…

This is one of my favorite sayings! It’s part of a song I learned at girls camp called “The Chloe Song”. Here are the complete lyrics:

When on life’s valley floor,

The future can’t be seen.

You wonder what Is on the other side;

And when you reach the top,

You realize you’ve found

The answers that the mountains used to hide.

I believe in the sun

Even when it’s not shining.

I believe in love

Even when I’m alone.

I believe in God

Even when He is silent.

I believe the answers will be known.

How can you say you know all things,

And this life isn’t fair?

Don’t you know you’ll understand,

Somehow, sometime, somewhere?

I believe in the sun

Even when it’s not shining.

I believe in love

Even when I’m alone.

I believe in God

Even when He is silent.

I believe the answers will be known.

This song is all about having faith and hope through the trials and knowing that God will carry us even when it’s hard. The mountains will end one day and you will have a beautiful view!

“You are a rose. Your heart is scarlet like a petal, you are beautiful to your head to your toes, and your faith is stronger then metal. When you need help to him you will call; when you break a simple rule or law He picks you up when you fall. Jesus loves you and me. You have the right eye ton to see, you will understand but, listen to his command. Jesus loves you he will make the gates of hell close. You are like a rose, a seed in you that grows, in knowledge, faith, beauty, and love. You are protected from the weeds with a glove, and that type of glove we learned from above, that type of glove is Jesus. He loved us. Because of him in the end we can arose, YOU ARE LIKE A ROSE.”
